Understanding The Various Types Of Lawn Mowers

Before impulsively purchasing one, it is essential that you know the various types of lawn mowers and their capabilities.  In addition, you must have a clear idea of your yard and your needs, in order to pick the mower that will work best for you.  Here are some helpful questions:  how big is the area you need to mow?  What kind of time and effort are you willing and able to put into maintaining your yard?  Have you considered and rejected the idea of hiring someone else to do the job?  What are your capabilities for storing a marge machine?  Do you plan on remaining at your place of residence for long enough to make this purchase worthwhile?  Once you have answered these questions, you can move on to considering your options.  In a nutshell, lawn mowers fall into two basic categories:  reel mowers and rotary models.  The choices are endless.  From riding lawn tractors to self propelled, push mowers to zero turn.  This article will briefly explain the characteristics of both.
The first type of lawn mowers available are called reel mowers.  In order to cut the grass, these models use a revolving cylinder called a reel.  One advantage of this type is that it allows you to mow your lawn much shorter than you would with the rotary version.  Golf courses, in fact, use reel mowers for this very reason.  For many, the down side of reel mowers is the fact that they must be adjusted periodically in order to cut the grass properly.  If you are either unwilling or unable to perform this function, consider the next option.

Unlike their sometimes manual counterparts, rotary mowers are always run by means of an engine.  Of all the Lawn Mowers, these may be the simplest to use.  They come in a number of models with different capabilities, including those that mulch.  In recent years, it has become popular to leave grass clippings on the lawn, as opposed to bagging them and using up space in local landfills.  In addition, you can choose riding models, especially attractive if you have a large yard.

As you can see, choosing among The Various Types Of Lawn Mowers is not a task to be taken lightly or done without considerable research.  Knowing your priorities, being aware of how much time and money you are willing to commit to this purchase, and understanding your equipment options will all be vital components of an intelligent decision on this topic.

I bought a used lawn mower and it works just fine. It's one of those Honda riding lawn mowers and you couldn't tell it was used. Works like a charm and I saved so much money it isn't funny. Now I can mow my lawn so much easier and faster.

I bought a used riding lawn mower to mow my lawn after using a push one for years. It is now taking me a lot less time to mow the lawn with a lot less effort. I don't feel as tired as I use to and the lawn mower works like a champ.

My dad recently invested in a riding lawn mower after using a push one for many years. He told me how much easier it is to mow the lawn now and how much more he is enjoying doing it. He also said he should have invested in one a long time ago.

John Deere has always been associated with farm equipment, but I never knew they made lawn mowers as well. I just need to get in touch with a dealer now and find out more about a walk behind, 'cause I have a small yard.

I have a huge yard. I could tell my husband was getting tired of our walk behind mower, so we did some research on riding lawn mowers. This site was very helpful, as it compared some of the top brands on the market.
